Grandma's Song
Chorus:
Come a-lou Come a-lou Come a hi-low comin' down the marry stream. Come a ran tan-tan and a dippy dippy dow. Here the rowe, the bow, wow wow,the bugle horn, the big fi-diddle, and the hidy ho, through the woods we're gonna roll boys, through the woods we're gonna roll.
All along the ol' back road, the people would stop to talk at her garden gate. While inside the family cried all through the night, cause the old woman had passed away.
I loved her so and knew she was a special one. A lovely lady and a gentle ol' soul. And she taught me how to sing an ol' folk song, it's got a melody from a hundred years ago. And she sang Come a-lou Come a-lou Come a hi-low comin' down the marry stream, I'm remembering.
Those memories have given me so much. She wore her age so gracefully. And there was not a living thing that she did not love and I'm afraid that there's just a little of her in me.
Oklahoma, in the summertime, in her rockin' chair, she'd be singin' there on the porch.
While the hounds are howlin' through the hot, black night, and that ol' fox'll keep on running like he never has done before.
All along the ol' back road, the people would stop to talk at her garden gate. While inside the family cried all through the night. Did you here that ol' Mrs. Whitten had passed away, today.
Chorus:
